PullRank Home a tool to enable you to log the Google PageRank of a URL
Development History
The Code
Before using PullRank on your computer, you must have the following two items installed:
  • Google Toolbar 2.0 Currently, the Google Toolbar is only available for Windows and requires Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 or later. Once you install the Toolbar, click on the Options button on the Toolbar, go the Options tab in the dialog that pops up, and check off PageRank display. The PageRank must be visible in the Google Toolbar for PullRank to work.

  • Microsoft .NET Framework Version 1.1 Redistributable Package This package provides some libraries that PullRank needs. Installing this software will require you to restart your computer.

Once you have installed the above items, click on the desired version of PullRank below to initiate its download.
  • PullRank 0.1 (Alpha) Unzip the contents of PullRank into a folder and change to that directory in the command prompt (MS-DOS window). Move all of your open windows to the bottom of the screen so that PullRank will be able to open an unobscured Internet Explorer browser. Then, at the command prompt, type the following to get the PageRank of a URL, such as The Onion:
    pullrank http://www.theonion.com/

    An Internet Explorer browser should open up and load the URL that you specified. Shortly thereafter, you should see some debugging information print to the console:
    DocumentComplete
    exited while loop
    try #0
    screen shot written
    Match found at 524, 144
    PageRank = 7
    pageRank for http://www.theonion.com/ is 7

    As you can see, the last thing that is printed to the console is the PageRank for the URL that you entered. You can verify that this PageRank matches that of the one in the open browser by mousing over the PageRank in Internet Explorer and reading the tooltip that pops up.
